A police called Jarvet!
To one of my favourite musical character — Jarvet from Les Miserable.<3
I am a big fan of Les Miserables musical. Among them, Javert is my favorite character. Despite being a somewhat unpleasant police, extremely dedicated to his job without much sympathy, often being uncompromisingly righteous in the play—chasing the protagonist, arresting revolutionary students and workers, lacking adaptability and hindering instead of helping—ultimately, he is a kind person at heart.
Javert is a jail police officer loyal to the law. However, the blindly just small police can't bear being saved by prisoner Jean Valjean and escaping the revolutionaries' pursuit. He ultimately jumps into the river and drowns.
Although Les Mis creates many vivid characters, most Les Mis fans discuss the story of the protagonist Jean Valjean's redemption and the heroic sacrifice of the student leader Enjolras. Against the backdrop of these two popular figures, Javert's storyline appears more extreme and fragile.
People tend to envision justice and bravery like Enjolras and forgiveness like Jean Valjean. In contrast, Javert's version of justice seems somewhat hypocritical. But in reality, ordinary people might find themselves more entangled in Javert's predicament: when something they've believed in all their lives collapses at a certain moment, they become excessively sorrowful and seek self-obliteration.
I attempted to retell the story of Les Miserables from Javert's perspective—how the police sees Jean Valjean and the group of students, and the emotional journey he experiences.
In the end, I hoped for him to survive, so I changed the ending to have him rescued from the water by passersby. I made him faint away…LOL
Enjoy!
